Case Study: Community Needs
Opportunity: To fill community needs for collaboration and understanding through niche efforts
Solutions: The New Girls Network, a networking “salon” for savvy, professionally focused women without membership restrictions, has been embraced by the business community’s female leaders.
The desire to create a targeted dialogue group of African-American and Jewish professional women to address the topic of being a minority in the South resulted in Sisters Chaverim. This group received a national award from the Jewish Council of Public Affairs.
While many small towns and out-of-the way locations thrive as vibrant communities and tourist destinations, others struggle due to resource limitations and economic constraints. The idea behind the Rural Renewal Project is to identify the needs of these communities and their residents and to provide support through a series of innovative, collaborative projects.
