Birmingham City Council Member: A Party for 10,000 Of His Closest Friends
Birmingham City Councilor Johnathan Austin wanted to host a fall fun day focused on community unity for District Five residents. The event was to be held in Birmingham's new Railroad Park, located in Councilor Austin's district and a centerpiece for the revitalization of the Morris Avenue-Railroad Terminal corridor. In one month, The Grodner Group planned an "intimate" event for 10,000 citizens featuring old-fashioned carnival games, a hay bale maze, pumpkin and face painting, Jazz in the Park and picnic-style food. In addition, representatives from such community organizations as Aids Alabama, the YWCA, the Alabama Ballet, Birmingham Police, and Birmingham Fire provided information on available services.
